Dermaplaning in Richmond, VA
Dermaplaning in the greater Richmond area is a safe, non-invasive exfoliating treatment that removes the outermost layer of dead skin cells along with fine, vellus hairs, or “peach fuzz,” resulting in superbly smooth, silky-soft skin. This relaxing treatment that we offer in Richmond, uses a special blade that gently strokes the skin.
How Does Dermaplaning Work?
Dermaplaning can be performed as a stand-alone treatment or prior to skin care product applications to enhance absorption and effectiveness. Without downtime, dermaplaning in Richmond, VA leaves you with the smoothest possible skin.
We also offer an advanced form of dermaplaning called Dermaplane Plus. After regular dermaplaning, we apply a topical serum to your skin, which penetrates deep into your pores, stimulating cellular turnover and revealing a radiant glow.

If my makeup has SPF in it, should I still put sunscreen on?
The answer is yes. Even though your makeup claims to have some sun protection factors, you are limiting your skin to full protection from UVA, UVB, HEV and IR-A rays. The amount of sunscreen in your makeup is such a small factor of the cosmetic product that it is not enough to protect against skin damage. We always suggest that our clients apply sunscreen before applying their makeup and follow up with Colorescience Brush On Shield throughout the day.
What is the best sunscreen?
When it comes to choosing the best sunscreen, it is very subjective. It all comes down to your personal preference. There isn’t a blanket statement of what is the best because each person has a different skin type and color. We recommend that you speak with your esthetician to find the best fit for you.
Drug Store Products vs. products We offer
The quality is not comparable. Most drug store products are filled with fragrances (number 1 cause of skin sensitivities and irritation) as well as parabens and preservatives. Medical grade skin care is full of active ingredients that are much stronger than what you’ll buy from the typical drug store. A little goes a long way, our cleansers last 6 months!
What is Retinol?
Retinol is the strongest form of a retinoid you can get without a prescription. It is an anti aging ingredient which can help with fine lines and discoloration by encouraging cell turnover in your skin.
How I can get rid of my Rosacea?
You can’t. There’s no cure for Rosacea, however it can be managed with proper home care, lifestyle choices and laser treatments.
What’s the difference between a physical and chemical sunscreen?
A physical sunscreen reflects and scatters the sun’s rays. Chemical sunscreens absorb the sun’s ray and turn to heat in the skin.
What is salicylic acid?
Salicylic is a very small molecule acid. It is a great treatment for acne prone and congested skin.
Do I still need to wear sunscreen if I’m not spending time outside?
Yes. The sun’s rays penetrate through windows. Small, unprotected exposure like walking to your car still can impact the skin. Additionally, blue light emitted from computers, smartphones and tablets damages the skin.
